Mark Twain's 100th Anniversary in Redding, Connecticut

Mark Twain's time in Redding is a significant part of Redding and Georgetown's History. To commemorate his short but eventful stay I have purchased the rights to a number of photographs taken of him in Redding.

The plan is to create a booklet containing photographs from 1908 thru 1910 in 2008 and a calendar for 2009.

The 2008 Booklet that will be released on June 18, 2008 at the Mark Twain Library will showcase:

  • The construction of his house
  • His arrival
  • The burglary
  • Christmas at Stormfield
  • Jean's farm
  • The library
  • The angelfish
  • The library funding party
  • Clara's wedding
  • and the people who came to visit

The 2009 Calendar will contain the best images from the list above.

Sponsors that wish to showcase their businesses will be displayed in the calendars/booklets and on www.historyofredding.com. There will be a special Mark Twain section added to the web site to showcase advertisers alongside information about Mark Twain's time in Redding, CT.

*If donations for this project amount to more than the cost to produce the material, additional funds will go to the Mark Twain Library and the History of Redding web site.

The mission of this web site is to promote and to create an awareness of the history and cultural legacy of Redding, Connecticut, Georgetown, Connecticut and Branchville, Connecticut.

History of Redding is a not a business or an organization..It's one person working to promote the history of his hometown
and surrounding areas. All costs are out-of-pocket so donations and/or sponsorships will allow me to dedicate more time
and effort to research and updates.
